Percentric Brief March 31st, 2020

Good morning,

I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns.

1. Heartburn v Chest Pain

We don’t want people with real emergencies avoiding healthcare. An example of a space that can be challenging even in the best of times is Heartburn v Chest Pain. Mayo Clinic has summarized it nicely here. One quick tip: If it comes and goes with something identifiable – like a medication or meal – it is more likely (but not always) Heartburn, while if it lingers / is unexplained / feels like squeezing or pressure on your chest, seek out care immediately. Don’t die at home with something preventable, please.

2. Virginia Stay-At-Home Order

Governor Northam has issued a stay-at-home order until June 10th. This is a measure to help flatten the curve. Continue to stay cautious but calm. Use good hand hygiene and avoid touching your face with dirty hands.

3. Furlough v. Fired

I actually didn’t know the answer to this myself.

 4. Teleworking Tips – For Parents

A lot of people have kids at home right now as we learn to navigate this new world of teleworking. Here are some useful tips for teleworking with kids at home to help keep you sane.

Stay safe, smart, and sane.
