Percentric Brief- March 30th, 2020

Good morning,

I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns.

1. If you do nothing else today, watch THIS VIDEO.

I mean it. Watch it, with a cup of coffee. I watched it myself from 2a – 3a this morning. Meet David Price, MD, from Cornell in NYC – hottest of hot spots in the US – doing a one hour Q&A  on the YouTube machine. Watch it at 1.5x. Right now. Whole thing. Will change a lot for you.

2. COVID-19 Update: National social distancing guidelines extended through April 30th

Last night, it was announced that President Trump extended the national social distancing guidelines, following recommendations of top epidemiologists and health advisers. That means that social distancing is now the new normal for a while. Our Percentric Briefs will continue to come regularly to help you stay informed and healthy during these times.

3. Tips for grocery shopping and take out foods

Many people are wondering what they can do to protect themselves and their loved ones when they go to get groceries. I don’t know about you, but we’re also missing some of our favorite restaurants right about now and are excited about all the take out options that are emerging. But what if you’re worried about bringing that food into your homes? Check out this video from Dr. Jeffrey VanWingen, MD, a Family Medicine doctor from Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a run down of how to get your groceries and your take out into your home- and belly- safely.

4. Meditation: A snoozfest or worth the hype?

At Percentic, we’re all about finding out of the box ways to meet the health needs of our people. Meditation is an ancient practice that has come back in vogue in recent years, but is it really worth all the hype? The National Center for Complimentary and Integrative Health has an in depth evaluation of what science says about meditation. Maybe these uncertain times are a good time to pick up a new mindfulness habit to help protect your mental health.

5. Don’t forget we’re here for ALL your health needs

Just a reminder, we’re here for all your health needs, not just your COVID-19 questions. We can help with all the regular health issues that come up so that you don’t have to go in to your PCP’s office or an Urgent Care, or help you decide if going in is the best course of action for your concern. Need your blood pressure medicine refilled? Shoot us a text. Got a weird rash on your leg? We can help with that, too.

Stay safe, smart, and sane.
