I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on keeping you well by addressing both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns. We work hard to keep it real, and real-time.
While New York recorded highest number of COVID-19 related deaths in a 24 hr period yesterday, the number of new hospitalizations there has risen only 3% in the last 2 days, which means that they are seeing headway in flattening the curve. In other troubling news, new data shows that black and Latino New Yorkers are dying at twice the rate of white New Yorkers.
And it looks like “they” are right. With the potential of a ventilator shortage looming, a team at MIT have developed a makeshift ventilator that costs on $100 to make, while a doctor in Mississippi has developed one made primarily with a garden hose, a lamp timer, and an electronic valve.
Stop what you’re doing and check out this update from the Virginia Zoo to make your day just a little better.
One tip that has worked for members of Percentric’s team: if you want to schedule a grocery pick up or delivery but can never get a time slot, try looking right after midnight. When the new day hits, new slots often open up for the next day that is available for scheduling.
Today’s question: COVID or cold? I’ve been working closely with both individuals and companies to try to help determine who most likely has COVID-19 and who most likely just has a run-of-the-mill cold, flu, or allergies. This is a handy chart to help differentiate between COVID-19 and other illnesses. As always, if you’re a Percentric customer, you can text us to talk through any symptoms you may be having.
