Good morning,

I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on keeping you well by addressing both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns. We work hard to keep it real, and real-time.

1. Covid-19 update

How many cases- and deaths- have there been, really? The answer is, we just don’t know. Some experts are saying our official counts are way too low-  including that the death count could be off by “tens of thousands.”

2. Go get your teeth cleaned… or not.

Governor Northam announced yesterday he will not be extending the orders prohibiting elective surgeries and dental care for Virginians. Those orders are set to expire tonight, so your dentist’s office will likely soon be taking appointments. Many Dental Hygienists, however, have raised concerns about the aerosols created during dental care creating an unsafe environment for both patients and providers.

3. Virginia Beach meal tax relief

In a little bit of good news, the city of Virginia Beach is suspending the meal tax on prepared foods for 60 days starting Friday, May 1st, so take out just got a little cheaper!

4. Are you in the right Headspace?

See for a HUGE assortment of articles and resources devoted to mindfulness, including guided meditations. They are offering lots of free content and access during the pandemic. Definitely something you want to check out.

5. Ask a Percentric Doc

Rather than tackle just one question today, I wanted to address several of the rumors I’ve heard/ been asked about in regards to Covid-19. See this article on coronavirus myths to get the low down.

Stay safe, smart, and sane.
