Good morning,

I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on keeping you well by addressing both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns. We work hard to keep it real, and real-time.

1. Covid-19 update

New research based on cell phone data shows that we are venturing away from home and the experts are saying it’s because we have “quarantine fatigue.”

2. No Touching!

Even if you’re not “a hugger,” at least some physical touch is hardwired into us. With social distancing, though, we’re touching each other less than ever. See why it’s so hard to go without physical touch.

3. Local Spotlight- Alkaline in Norfolk

A Norfolk restaurant owner and chef, Kevin Ordonez, is well on his way to achieving his Feed 1,500 project, where he is hoping to provide 1,500 meals to healthcare workers and front line Covid responders. Check out this news coverage for more info on what he’s doing and how you can help.

can help.

4. A digital potluck with Guy Fieri and Martha Stewart

Bet that’s not a sentence you thought you’d read today. Take a few minutes to watch the latest edition of Some Good News with John Krasinski. It will make you smile, plus give you some new dinner ideas.

5. Ask a Percentric Doc

Today’s question: “My sister just found out she’s pregnant. I’m really worried about her getting sick with corona. I’ve looked online and some sites seem to say that pregnant women are more in danger but other sites say they aren’t. What do you think?”

Well, I’m a big believer in looking to the experts, especially when you get mixed messages from the internet or the media, so I suggest you  look to places like the CDC or the World Health Organization. Data is limited, but the current understanding as described by the CDC is that pregnant women do not appear to be at increased risk for catching Covid-19. The virus also doesn’t seem to transmit from mom to baby through the placenta. See more info from the WHO here or the CDC here.

Stay safe, smart, and sane.
