I’m Bryan Fine, MD, MPH, CEO & Founder of Percentric. This e-newsletter – always evolving – focuses on keeping you well by addressing both non-COVID-19 and COVID-19 health concerns. We work hard to keep it real, and real-time.
1. COVID-19 updates
Big news today as several states announce measures to begin lifting restrictions put in place to stem the tide of COVID-19. Hopefully this isn’t a case of, “Gee, Doc, the medicine you gave me made me feel so much better, I stopped taking it.” Only time will tell, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the trends in the states that begin lifting restrictions.
2. COVID can’t cancel the Lyrid meteor shower
If you’ve never watched a meteor shower, now’s the time. The kids don’t have school tomorrow and you can take a nap after that conference call.
3. People aren’t having fewer heart attacks because of COVID-19…
But they ARE coming to the hospital less. Turns out, doctors from around the country are finding that people with acute health problems are either not seeking care at all or waiting days longer than they normally would because of fear of the coronavirus. This means that we’re seeing a spike in “collateral damage” from COVID-19, where even people without the virus are getting sicker. At Percentric, we’re working overtime to bring needed healthcare and professional advice to people who are worried about interacting with in-person care right now with our unique doctor-by-text feature.
4. Some Good News from the International Space Station…
Plus, a recap of the first-of-it’s-kind digital prom with John Krasinski in this week’s Some Good News. These just keep getting better!
One of the ways to be a good doctor is knowing when you should “refer out” for a little help when taking care of your patients. Rather than give you my opinion today, I waned to share with you the most comprehensive list of coronavirus questions- and more importantly, ANSWERS- that I’ve come across. From science, to mental health, to money, to how to help others, to how to get help yourself, they really have it covered. Trust me, you want to check it out.
Stay safe, smart, and sane.
