Bryan R. Fine, MD, MPH is a physician based in Norfolk, Virginia who, in early 2016, combined his passion for patient care, his health policy expertise, and his entrepreneurial drive to start Percentric – an innovative health benefits consulting firm that utilizes a physician’s clinical perspective to dutifully optimize employer healthcare costs while supporting employee happiness and financial security via an embedded medical practice.
Bryan got his medical degree from the University of South Florida in 2000, then completed a residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He got a Masters in Public Health from George Washington University before being asked in 2008 to start a Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughter. He grew that program from a single-doctor, single-site start-up to a multi-site group employing more than ten providers, which includes building from scratch a hospitalist-based nursery program at a nearby community hospital and salvaging the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit in Virginia.
For more than a decade, Bryan has taught Masters-level courses in health policy and finance. He has published widely on various health finance topics, including authoring a book chapter on medical economics for the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2017. He has interests in translating complex health policy issues into common lay terminologies; has served on executive-level committees that targeted health benefits design; has presented at regional and national conferences on financial topics; and has been closely involved with strategic planning and organizational negotiations at senior administrative levels.
Most importantly, Bryan is a loving husband to Stephanie and doting father to three awesome children – Lyla, Juliette, and Simon.
